The MACB "Multi ASCII Communications Board" has been retired. Some electronic components for the MACB transmitter card are no longer available from the manufacturer. Remaining component stock has been dedicated to the GSI service group for bench repairs. Anticipating that component stock would be soon unavailable, GSI designed a new transmitter board to replace the MACB, as well as the 1800, 1900, 2000, and 2001 transmitter cards.
The APTB "All Purpose Transmitter Board" is a direct replacement for the MACB transmitter board. Existing MACB personality modules can be used directly with the APTB. The personality modules are designed to allow the MACB and APTB transmitter board to emulate other electrical standards and protocols.
In addition to the replacement of the MACB, the APTB was designed with additional personality modules. The first APTB-PM is a 48 VDC electrical standard and Mark-Space protocol, a direct replacement for 1800, 1900, 2000, and 2001 transmitter cards. Other Personality Modules that are currently in development include:
- 12-24 VDC - 10BASE-FL, MODBUS encapsulated TCP/IP
- 12-24 VDC - RS 232, MODBUS RTU with Spread Spectrum Radio
- 12-24 VDC - RS 232, MODBUS RTU with BlueBoardÔ Radio
The MACB-PM "Personality Modules" that are now supported by the APTB "All Purpose Transmitter Board" include:
- 12-24 VDC - RS 485, MODBUS RTU
- GPE 31422 & 31423 Transmitters
- L & J Tankway Protocol
- Endress + Hauser 4100 Transmitters
- Varec 1800 & 1900 Transmitters
- FSK MODBUS
- NMC / RGL
